Are you thinking of visiting Disney World in September? It is a wonderful time of year to visit! However, before you book your September trip, here are 8 Things To Know About Visiting Disney World In September.
1. The Weather
Wondering what the weather will be like in September? September is typically a hot and humid month at Disney World, however more bearable than summer months especially as evening rolls around. The average high for September is 90° and the average low is 73°. When you need to cool down, consider one of these 6 Frozen Drink Options at Disney World to cool down with! It is also a good idea to pack the ponchos for your September trip, as this month averages 6.1″ of rainfall. You may also want a light sweatshirt for the evening.
2. Hurricane Season
Visiting in September? Grab that trip insurance! Hurricane Season in Florida starts in June, running through November. However, the month most likely for Hurricanes to occur is September.
In 1999, Hurricane Floyd caused a September closure. In 2004 both Hurricane Frances & Jeanna caused September closures. In 2017, Hurricane Irma caused another September closure.
3. Crowd Levels
September is known as a relatively low crowd month, compared to Summer months and holiday weeks (4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas). The reason September is a great month to visit crowd wise, is because schools are back in session. When kids go back to school, many families do not go on vacation within the first month of school starting – making it a great time to visit if you do not have kids or are able to pull them out of school.
4. Park Hours
Do be mindful that lower crowd levels, less busy months, tend to have earlier park closings. In the summer months, while daylight hours are also longer, many parks will stay open until 10pm or even later. However, as September and winter months roll around it is not untypical to see Disney parks closing at 8pm and 9pm.
5. Price
Did you know you can save money on your Disney World vacation just by going at the right time?! Prices tend to trend with crowd level. Therefore visiting at Christmas and other holidays will have higher park ticket and Resort rates. Where as lower crowd times have slightly lower rates. This generally applies to September, making it another great reason to head to Disney World this month.
6. EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival
One of my favorite things at Disney World is EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival. This festival brings added entertainment, included with your ticket such as the Eat to the Beat concert series, not to mention additional food booths!
