What to do on your arrival day at Walt Disney World Resort can be spent in a variety of different ways. The very first thing you need to do is check into your resort. Even if it is 7 am in the morning, they will go ahead and put you into the system and text you when your room is ready. They will even hold your luggage (including your carry ons) for you. And once you are checked in, you are welcome to use any of the resort amenities or venture away from the resort to experience the parks, Downtown Disney and more. Here are a few ideas on how you can spend your arrival day:
The Parks
If you want to use a park ticket, head to whatever park you are dying to visit. If you arrive early in the morning, I would suggest that you visit Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. If you arrive in the afternoon, head to Epcot to tour the countries.
The Resort
Pack bathing suits for your family in your carry on. There are bathrooms located near the pool area where you can change before heading for a dip. Most resorts also have games for the kids that occur by the pool during the day.
You can also explore the grounds of the resort. Disney Resorts are truly amazing and there are so much to see and do and a variety of places to eat. If you are staying at Wilderness Lodge, you can visit the beach, check out the geyser by the pool, and request a Hidden Mickey hunt sheet from concierge and challenge your family to see who can find the most. If you are staying at Pop Century, you can browse the memorabilia in the lobby, check out all the icons located at each building, take a walk around the lake and read each sign to learn what happened in pop history during that year.
Each resort is unique and offers so many details and amenities that you won’t get bored.
Disney Springs
Visiting Disney Springs is a great way to spend your arrival day. You can check out the shops, enjoy something delicious to eat and even catch a movie or bowl a few frames.
Golf
Walt Disney World is home to a full size golf course and 2 different miniature golf courses. Playing a round at either size course is a great way to pass the time and relax.
A Dinner Reservation
All of the moderate and deluxe resorts offer table service restaurants where you can reserve a table before you arrive (beginning at 180 days before your arrival date). You can even book a meal at a resort that you are not a guest of. So if your kids are eager to meet characters, you might reserve dinner at Chef Mickey’s or 1900 Park Fare. If you want a romantic meal, you might reserve a meal at Yauchtsmen Steakhouse.
Whatever you decide to do, I am sure your arrival day will be magical because you will be beginning your family vacation.

On my arrival day, I usually check in, unpack, check out my resort. I then plan my lunch either at my resort or another one and then head to Disney Springs. I love reading your articles.
