Traveling to Walt Disney World without your children can be an amazingly magical experience for you and a friend or you and your significant other. It is very possible to enjoy the Walt Disney World Resort from a grown up perspective. More and more guests are enjoying Disney honeymoons, trips with a group of girlfriends, or even a long weekend without the kiddos at Walt Disney World. In 2014, my husband and I took a long weekend to go to Orlando and enjoy the 24-Hour Event at the Magic Kingdom. You may be considering a trip to the Food and Wine Festival this fall, or maybe even a Disneymoon. Regardless of what takes you to Walt Disney World without your kiddos, I’m going to share some tips for enjoying Walt Disney World Without Kids with you today!
Which resort do you recommend for our “adult only” Disney trip? I think it really depends on when you are traveling. If you are planning a trip for Food and Wine, I would go with Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort, or Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. These are all in the Epcot area, and all of them except Caribbean Beach are within walking distance to Epcot’s World Showcase. If you are planning a trip at other times of the year, I recommend Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside, or Disney’s Polynesian Resort. I love the theming of each of these for a grown up trip!
Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it if it is just two of us? In my opinion, no. Sharing meals is so easy when there are just two of you, and you can easily do this when you are at Walt Disney World. It’s a great way to save money so in turn you could possibly stay at a nicer resort or have the park hopper option on your tickets.
Why would I want to go to Disney without children? In our experience, we were able to enjoy the parks in a different way. We enjoyed some restaurants at Epcot especially, that we may not visit with our children. We also toured the parks differently. For example, we did three parks on our last day. It was so fun! We also enjoyed the Single Rider Line low waits as opposed to waiting in the standby lines if we didn’t have FastPasses. It was much more leisurely! It also gives you the chance to enjoy the parks in the later evening hours, when they are less crowded.
Which grown up activities do you suggest we enjoy while we are there? Characters in Flight may be a good one to enjoy while you are at Disney without kids. Another great place to enjoy is Disney’s Boardwalk area at night. The street performers and atmosphere is great for grown ups! Also, you could take a carriage ride, a fireworks cruise, or maybe enjoy a spa treatment during your trip. Of course, there is always the option of Drinking Around the World Showcase at Epcot or perhaps a private tour of the parks.
How long would you suggest we stay at Walt Disney World? I think 3 nights with a 3 day park hopper is your best plan for an adult only Disney trip. Depending on your arrival or departure time, you can easily do a park on your arrival or departure day. You’ll be so glad you did!

My husband and I honeymooned in WDW 20 years ago and went again right before we had kids. Now we vacation there every third year with our 4 kids! Any opportunity to visit WDW is a great one – kids or no kids!
