Speaking of weather, while you may not be able to pinpoint every rain shower on your Disney vacation, you can look at past data. Download a weather app prior to your vacation, such as The Weather Channel (free). Most of us own smartphones now, put them to good use by checking radar from a weather app. This will tell you if the rain is staying or moving out of the area quickly.
Disney World Tips
Raining On Your Parade
Magic Kingdom has a daily afternoon parade for guests to enjoy named Festival of Fantasy. However if it happens to rain on your parade, do not fret as the Rainy Day Cavalcade will save the day. The Rainy Day Cavalcade is a special parade that only occurs in the rain!
Attractions To Head To By Park:
Magic Kingdom
- Carousel of Progress – Attraction will keep you dry for: 20 minutes
- Country Bear Jamboree – Attraction will keep you dry for: 16 minutes
- Enchanted Tiki Room – Attraction will keep you dry for: 15 minutes + a preshow
- The Hall of Presidents – Attraction will keep you dry for: 30 minutes + entry way with plaques to read.
- Haunted Mansion – Attraction will keep you dry for: 8 minutes + a mostly covered queue and indoor preshow.
- it’s a small world – Attraction will keep you dry for: 10minutes + covered queue.
- Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor – Attraction will keep you dry for: 15 minutes
Epcot
- American Adventure – Attraction will keep you dry for: 28 minutes + a large lobby inside
- Living with the Land – Attraction will keep you dry for: 14 minutes + the Land Pavilion is fun to explore with food options and also hosts Soarin’
Hollywood Studios
- Disney Junior Dance Party! – Attraction will keep you dry for: 20 minutes
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid – Attraction will keep you dry for: 17 minutes
Animal Kingdom
- Festival of the Lion King – Attraction will keep you dry for: 30 minutes
- Finding Nemo – The Musical – Attraction will keep you dry for: 40 minutes
- Avatar – Flight of Passage – Attraction will keep you dry for: 5 minutes + a preshow and this attraction is not uncommon to have 2+ hour wait times. The incredible queue makes this a great line to wait on a rainy day.
- Na’Vi River Journey – Attraction will keep you dry for: 5 minutes, however this attraction currently experiences longer than average waits as well.
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – An exception to the rule of outdoor attractions closing in the rain.Plus, you may find animals more active on the safari during the rain!

Water Parks
If you cant beat the rain, join it! If there is no lightning than visit a Disney Water Park, you are going to get wet anyway. Past guests have encountered little to no lines, since most equate water parks with a sunny day. However, a bit of drizzle will not stop you from enjoying Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.

Disney California Adventure Park
Visit the Animation Academy – guests can stay dry and learn how to draw a Disney character, with step-by-step instructions. Occurring every half hour.
Take The Bakery Tour – guests are invited to take a tour that includes free bread samples.
Step inside the Sorcerer’s Workshop – For exhibits on how animation is brought to life.
Disneyland Park
Browse The Disney Gallery – if you find yourself in the rain on Main st USA duck into The Disney Gallery. Then browse the Disney art on display.
Visit the Main Street Cinema – another perfect rainy day activity is visiting the Main Street Cinema. Guests can view classic Disney animated films.
See Minnie’s House – visit Minnie’s House and see her living room, kitchen and bedroom.
Do the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough – Take time to relive the story of Princess Aurora and Maleficent told on the Castle walls.
Star Wars: Path of the Jedi – step inside to relive moments from Star Wars films.
Downtown Disney
Go Bowling – Visit Splitsville Luxury Lanes at Downtown Disney and get out of the rain with a game of bowling.

Tips To Survive The Rain (At Any Disney Park):
- Pack Rain Gear: Ponchos or light rain jacket, umbrella and Ziploc bags (for electronics).
- Bring Flip flops or waterproof shoes to change into and splash in the puddles!
- Bring a sweatshirt, if rain is in the forecast have a sweatshirt on hand, the air conditioning feels cold after getting rained on.
- Stroller cover, for little ones in strollers, have a stroller cover on hand.
Shop For Souvenirs
Both Disneyland Resort and Disney World have plenty of shops in the parks to keep guests dry while they browse. Consider using the time while it rains to complete your souvenir shopping. For those staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, keep your purchases dry with Merchandise Pick up and delivery. This saves guests from having to carry items around, (check out longer than 48 hours to utilize), your items will be sent to your resort’s gift shop.
Ride Again
When it starts to rain, many guests will clear out of the parks. However, the guests prepared for rain will stay (like you!). Therefore, rain usually means shorter lines for select attractions. Ride your favorite more than once!
Grab A Bite To Eat
When it starts to sprinkle, instead of leaving the park, grab a bite to eat. Disneyland and Disney World have a variety of restaurants for all tastes, have a full meal or just stop by for an appetizer or dessert! Quick Service restaurants are your best bet for last minute dining. Luckily, there are many to take shelter, read just a couple of great options now. Flo’s V8 Café is a great casual quick service option in Disney California Adventure park offering American foods. At Pandora – World of Avatar in Animal Kingdom, guests can try unique flavors in healthier dishes at Satu’li Canteen, while staying dry with plenty of indoor seating.
Finally, after the rain, look for a rainbow!
